  1. To me, one of the most difficult aspects of dealing with a manipulative situation is untangling one’s own feeling of responsibility and guilt to form an accurate, mature assessment of what is actually taking place. The internet is full of information and misinformation; where many “symptoms” of disorder seem to match into experiences across a diverse range of situations. A particular behavior may be indicative of a serious disorder, an attempt to mimic aggressive behavior to seem “powerful”, a defense response, or perhaps just someone having a really bad day. The use of information about mental health disorders for political brinkmanship and games of checkmate makes the situation even worse, as it dilutes the credibility of the subject. Compound this with a popular culture that celebrates broken relationships as entertainment, and elevates certain vestigial elements of systematic dehumanization drawn from sources such as Edwardian England; and it can be quite difficult to see, let alone admit, that you are not only valuable and legitimate a person but that you are also being terribly abused.

The other difficult step comes after having recognized the fundamental injustice of one’s situation involving a manipulator: the very necessary realization that any change must come from one’s self and not the aggressor.

I am pleased to have bumped into Dr. Simon’s blog here as he has provided very clear, frank explanations about how the manipulative mind works. I look forward to reading this book.

  2. I desperately want to be able to read “In Sheep’s Clothing” on my iPad 2 but I can’t find it. Is there someone that can help me out?

    1. Thanks for the inquiry. I’m still waiting for a reply from the publisher about what the problem might be. I’ll post the information as soon as I receive it.

        1. The e-edition for In Sheep’s Clothing is available for Kindle through Amazon. The e-versions for Barne’s & Noble’s Nook Reader and for Apple products through Itunes are still in process but will be available in the next few weeks. All e-versions of Character Disturbance should be available in December.

  3. Hi, would you know if your book is available through Google ebooks? I have an Android and am unable to find it.
    Please advise
    thanks
